FAQs

It’s a free online tool that builds ready-to-use color palettes from real alcohol markers. You pick the brands and sets you own, choose a mood or color theme, and it suggests a group of marker codes that work well together, so you can start coloring without guessing which colors match. Generate instantly with no account needed, and save your palettes as a PNG or PDF.

The generator currently works with all Copic, Ohuhu, and Crayola alcohol markers, including their main series and sets, and we will be adding more brands soon. You can filter to a specific brand, series, set or even a single marker, so every palette only uses markers you actually own.

Use the search box to enter a code or brand, i.e. Ohuhu R412, and it will show a list of alcohol markers that match your search. Keep typing to narrow it down to the exact marker you want, then select it to lock it in and generate a palette built around that color.

A reliable approach is to lay colors down from light to dark and build up in light, even layers. If your palette includes a range of one color from Shades mode, start with the lightest value, then work the darker ones in while the ink is still wet for smooth transitions. Test on a swatch chart for more accurate results.

It uses color harmony rules and mood themes, building around proven schemes such as complementary, analogous, and triadic combinations. The harmony each palette uses is shown above the palette, and you can click the ‘i’ icon there to read more about it.

The Shades filter builds a light-to-dark range of a single color. It is ideal for blending and shading, since having several values of one hue lets you create smooth gradients and add depth as you color.

Yes. If there is one marker you want to keep, lock that swatch and generate again. The tool keeps your locked color and picks the remaining markers to complement it. You can also lock several colors.

You can copy the palette codes or hex values, or save the whole palette as a PNG image or a PDF. The image is sized to share on Pinterest or save to your phone, and the PDF makes a handy printed reference sheet to keep beside your markers.

The colors are a close guide rather than a perfect on-paper preview. Alcohol markers shift with the paper, layering, and lighting, and some hex values are community-sourced, so always test on a swatch chart before committing to a piece.

Yes. The generator is built for mobile as well as desktop, so you can build and copy palettes on your phone while you color.

The Marker Palette Generator creates a whole color scheme from the markers you own. The Marker Matcher does the opposite job: you give it any color or hex code, and it finds the closest matching marker plus its nearest equivalent in another brand. They pair well, so use the Matcher to find a single color and the Generator to build a full palette around it.
